E-waste Management

E-WASTE: WHAT IS IT?

Electronic items that are nearing the end of their “useful life” are sometimes referred to as “e-waste.” Common electrical devices include air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, stereos, copiers, and fax machines. Numerous of these items can be recycled, repaired, or reused.

One of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world is e-waste. While e-waste includes valuable resources like gold, silver, copper, and palladium, it also includes hazardous compounds like cadmium, lead, and mercury. E-waste disposal at landfills can result in harmful emissions to the air, water, and soil and pose major health and environmental risks if proper precautions are not taken.

ADVANTAGES OF RECYCLING ELECTRICAL WASTE

Hazardous materials are mixed with precious and scarce ones in electronic waste. Complex electronics can contain up to 60 components. The majority of electronic equipment are made of a range of materials, including recoverable metals. Natural resources that are still in tact are preserved, and the air and water pollution brought on by improper disposal of dangerous materials is avoided. Recycling also lessens the quantity of greenhouse gas emissions brought on by the production of new goods.

E-Waste Management Rules, 2016 have been made public and are in accordance with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of India. E-Waste Rules will be implemented, as promised, by Leonis Electronics India.

We are aware that in order to preserve the world’s finite natural resources, it is important to promote the recycling of all usable and valuable components from e-waste. If we want to conserve resources and reduce landfill space, recycling end-of-life abandoned products is essential. Leonis Electronics India is aware of its responsibilities, which is why we have partnered with 3R Recycler, one of the top authorised e-waste recyclers, to make it easier for our clients to get rid of their old electronic equipment.

In India, 3R Recycler, a well-known recycler, was a pioneer in organising the recycling of e-waste. authorised by the CPCB and HSPCB, and they are dedicated to ESG and corporate governance. They are skilled in helping Producers meet their regulatory obligations for EPR and E-waste Management.

We will manage devices that have reached the end of their useful lives responsibly and provide EPR Services as part of our relationship with 3R Recycler. For their processing facilities, 3R Recycler has all the required approvals from the relevant government bodies. E-waste is properly recycled and disposed of with the help of 3R Recycler. This enables us to safeguard the environment from any negative effects that may otherwise result from the improper disposal of e-waste.

Do’s and Don’ts

Do’s

  • Always seek for information about handling end-of-life equipment in the catalogue that comes with your product.
  • Make sure that your electrical items are handled by only authorised recyclers and dismantlers.
  • Always call our toll-free numbers if a product has reached the end of its useful life.
  • When an electronic device reaches the end of its useful life, always dispose of it at the nearest authorised e-waste collection point.
  • Always remove the batteries from the product, and make sure any glass surfaces are broken-proof.

Don’ts

  • Never take apart your electronic devices by yourself.
  • Electronics should not be disposed of in receptacles marked “Do Not Dispose.”
  • Don’t send your electronic waste to rag pickers or local scrap dealers, which are unorganised and informal sectors.
  • Never place your product in trash cans with municipal rubbish that is eventually disposed of in landfills.

WHAT ARE THE BEST ACTIONS FOR MY ELECTRONIC DISCARDS?

Here, the maxim “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” is applicable.
By using wise handling and proper maintenance, you may lower your e-waste creation.
Donate us your used electronics that are still in good working order.
Products that can’t be fixed should be recycled. Customers can drop off their outdated products at the drop locations closest to them for proper recycling.

We welcome your assistance in ensuring the efficient and safe disposal of e-waste, which is a shared duty between ourselves and our esteemed customers. We appreciate your help.
